Dr. Craig N Burkhart, MD, MSBS
Craig N. Burkhart, MD, MSBS is a graduate of University of Toledo and Brown University Internal Medical residency. He presently is a second year resident in dermatology at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He obtained his masters during medical school with his thesis paper being "Nit Sheath and Bacterial Symbiotes of Pediculus humanus capitis (the human head louse)," for which he received the Dean's Award. Additionally he recieved the Edward J. Cafruny Award of Excellence in Pharmacology from Medical College of Ohio. He has presented papers at numerous sites including Harvard and Stanford besides being the student speaker at the Master Degrees Hooding Ceremony at his medical graduation. He was the national winner of the medical student research poster competition at the annual session of the National Meeting of the American College of Physician/American Society of Internal Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, April 12-14, 2002. He is an annual reviewer for American Society of Health-System Pharmacists for topical insecticides, and the American Hospital Formulary Service (AHFS) Drug Information.
He has reviewed articles for over ten journals including SCIENCE and the British Journal of Dermatology. His earwax research was featured on National Public Radio on 6/17/02 with “All Things Considered.” He has 95 publications, several book chapters, as well as being co-investigator in numerous research grants and patents with Craig G. Burkhart. He solely owns one patent on methods of increasing efficacy of peroxides.
